I want to thank all of the parents who worked the concession stand, and especially Barbara vanAssendelft for being in charge.  It is great to have parents who are so supportive of their children's school.  Believe me, I know how it is to work all day and then work the concession stand that night.  It is all part of being in a private school, but I wouldn't change a thing!
Please continue to work on multiplication tables.  Those struggling with division are the ones who still do not know their facts.  Study the Metric and English conversions, as well.  We started converting measurements today.
The AR deadline for the first nine weeks is October 12.  That will be here before we know it.  Please encourage (MAKE) your child read.  Remember, this is 20% of the Reading grade.
In Language today a book was assigned called Rosa.  Rosa will be read independently, however we will do a book report together in class.  Please read Rosa along with your child if you possible have time,  It is a wonderful Christian Fiction book.  I reread it every year and continue to enjoy it.

     Important dates to remember:
September 18 - Blood drive in the lunchroom from 3-7p.m.  Extra credit will be given for
donations made in your child's name.  Call the school for an appointment.
                                Walk-ins are welcome.
     September 21 - picture proofs/orders are due

The fifth grade had another wonderful week of school.  I hope they are enjoying it as much as I am.

The class is still struggling with division with two digit divisors.  This process is impossible if they do not know their multiplication tables.  Please, please drill your child daily with some flashcards to work on this area.  They must know the multiplication tables 1-12.  Thank you for your support.

Also, many are behind on their AR points.  Please encourage your child to read.  I know we all have a busy schedule, but Reading helps your child in ALL subject areas!  The more they read, the better speller they become and comprehension in all subjects is improved!! I only want the best for your child!

Have a wonderful, LONG weekend and enjoy these precious angels!!!!

Today ended our first complete day of school, and I must say it was super!  The kids were excited and eager to learn.  We are having some difficulty in opening some of our locks on our lockers in a timely manner, so if your child is one who is struggling with that, please have him / her take the lock home and practice.  I was able to help several today, however, it is time consuming when there are several who are struggling.
Again, the children are so precious!  I thank you for sharing them with me.  We will learn from each other.  As the years go by, I realize that I am not the only teacher in the class!!  Have a good weekend, and get some rest!

Parents and Fifth Graders,
Today was the first day of a new and exciting year!!  The day went very well I thought, as I am slowly getting to know everyone.  The children are ALL sooo precious, and I feel truly blessed to be able to share each day with them.
Please be reminded that our day begins at 8:05am. and ends at 3:10pm.  The children will also begin P.E. tomorrow so gym clothes are a necessity.
Chicken tenders will only be served one day a week this year.  Look on your monthly calendar for the dates.  The lunch price is still $4.75 per day.  We will be eating early this year so your child might want to bring a light afternoon snack.  Only drinks with a screw on lid are permitted in the classroom, and that will only be during snack time.
Please send all papers back to me, signed as soon as possible.  They have to be turned into the office,  and I cannot turn them in until I have everyone's filled out and signed.  You may send your workbook fees to me,  and I will make sure they are turned in to the office.
Homework will begin next week, so please be sure and check your child's agenda.  Feel free to contact me for further questions or concerns.  Have a good evening.  See you all tomorrow!
